BIOGRAPHY

Klaus Rothkegel, born in Hamm/Westphalia in 1961, has been on the "boards that mean the world" since 1983. He was taught the classical guitar by Peter Dornquast at the municipal music school in Hamm. He came to art singing early on through singing on the guitar from repertoire of different styles from pop and classical. This was followed by studying music with a major in singing at the Detmold University of Music with Prof. Theo Lindenbaum and attending the Detmold Opera School. In 1991 he completed his studies with the state examination for music school teachers. Since 1992 he has been a member of the opera choir of the Staatstheater Kassel. He could be heard as a singer and guitarist in numerous concerts, especially in the Kassel region. He also directed several choirs there.

He has been teaching at the Volkshochschule Kassel since the beginning of 2020, where he teaches the basics of music and music notation.                                                His compositional work includes songs, pieces for guitar and works for various instrumentations with guitar. His pieces are inspired by different personal impressions and memories. Klaus Rothkegel's musical palette ranges from pieces that hint at the Renaissance, through Romanticism to more modern styles such as Blues, Folk and Latin. His compositions are published by Musikverlag Harald Burger, Karlsruhe, which also publishes the CD "Anette's Dream - Boris Tesic plays musical impressions by Klaus Rothkegel" with pieces exclusively written by him.
